Orbit advises EIF on anchor investment in Prime Sustainable Infrastructure Debt Fund.

Prime Capital AG has secured a EUR 30m anchor commitment from the European Investment Fund (EIF) under the InvestEU programme for its Prime Sustainable Infrastructure Debt Fund (PSIDEF), elevating the fund to EUR 130m in total capital as of its third closing.

PSIDEF will focus on providing debt financing to small- and mid-size infrastructure developers across Europe, with an emphasis on battery storage projects. Local developers and independent power producers that are not part of larger corporate groups have significant capital requirements, however, typically have limited access to debt providers since traditional lenders often require the support of large organisations or financial sponsors.

The European infrastructure debt market offers unique opportunities driven by the urgent need to modernise ageing infrastructure and support sustainable urbanisation and economic growth. A further acceleration is expected as a result of substantial fiscal packages announced by the German government in the first half of 2025. Infrastructure debt can provide investors with stable, largely cash-yielding, predictable and inflation-linked returns.
