Orbit advises EIB on anchor investment in Speedinvest Africa.

European Investment Bank (EIB) has committed EUR 40 million to Vienna-based venture capital firm Speedinvest’s first dedicated Africa-focused investment vehicle, strengthening Europe-Africa innovation ties and supporting high-growth tech startups across key ecosystems.

The fund backs early-stage, technology-enabled and mobile-based solutions across payments, healthcare, mobility, and education – driving financial inclusion, digital transformation, and enabling startups to secure long-term capital and expand into regional and international markets. At least 30 percent of the fund volume will be allocated to companies that foster gender equality.

EIB Vice-President Karl Nehammer: “By backing this vehicle, we are enabling African innovators to scale, access new markets, and build sustainable businesses – creating shared opportunities for both Africa and Europe. In a world of fragmentation, we are building bridges.”
