The MBG Baden-Württemberg has successfully fundraised and closed the Start-up BW Innovation Fonds at EUR 45m.
The MBG will manage the fund and act as a co-investor in the fund’s portfolio companies. Other investors include insurance companies, banks and the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The fund will be investing in technology companies in the start-up phase with a special focus on information and communications technology (ICT), digital transformation, industrial innovation and healthcare/life sciences.
Some investments have already been made, for example into a company developing implants for long-term measurement and stimulation of brain and nerve activity.
This fund is part of Baden-Württemberg’s Start-up campaign, which aims at making the region into one of the most founder-friendly places in Europe. According to the Minister for Economy, Labor and Tourism of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Start-ups drive innovation and are important when meeting current economic challenges.
The MBG Baden-Württemberg is one of the most important capital providers and a key partner for medium-sized businesses in Baden-Württemberg. It has invested more than EUR 200m into approximately 750 companies since its founding in 1971 in Stuttgart.
